The Unbelievable Christmas: Dying to Live

Day 1: The Gift of God's Love Reading: John 3:16-21 Devotional: God's love is the foundation of Christmas. Just as the Christmas tree stands as a symbol of life and light, Jesus came to bring eternal life and light to a dark world. Reflect on the magnitude of God's love - that He would send His only Son to save us. How does this truth impact your daily life? Consider ways you can share God's love with others this season, remembering that you are worthy of this incredible gift.

Day 2: Dying to Self, Living for Christ Reading: Galatians 2:20-21 Devotional: The Christian life calls for a radical transformation - dying to our old self so Christ can live in us. Like a tree cut down to become a Christmas tree, we must let go of our old identity to embrace our new life in Christ. What areas of your life are you still clinging to? Surrender these to God today, trusting that His plan for you is far greater than anything you could imagine for yourself.

Day 3: Adopted into God's Family Reading: Ephesians 1:3-14 Devotional: Through Christ, we are adopted into God's family. This adoption changes everything about our identity and purpose. Just as an ornament finds new meaning when placed on a Christmas tree, we find our true significance when we embrace our identity as God's children. How does knowing you're God's child change your perspective on life's challenges? Thank God for choosing you and reflect on how you can live out your new identity today.

Day 4: Hope in Suffering Reading: Romans 8:18-25 Devotional: The Christmas story reminds us that hope often comes through suffering. Jesus' birth in a humble manger foreshadowed His suffering on the cross. Yet, this suffering brought about our salvation. In your current struggles, can you see glimpses of hope? Remember that just as the cross led to resurrection, your present sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed in you. Hold onto hope, knowing that God is working all things for your good.

Day 5: The Tree of Life Reading: Revelation 22:1-5 Devotional: The Bible begins with a tree in Eden and ends with the tree of life in the New Jerusalem. This reminds us that God's plan of redemption comes full circle. As you look at Christmas trees this season, let them point you to the hope of eternity with God. In what ways can you live today in light of this eternal perspective? Commit to surrendering your life fully to God, allowing Him to use you to bring His kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
